It's taken me awhile to process the situation, the fallout and the defenders of the indefensible. But I feel as someone with Autism who has educated themselves on the past I must speak up for those who may not be able to speak for themselves.
I am not only offended but scared and saddened about how many people including those around me are oblivious or have not said anything about this.
A lot of people forget or aren't aware that tens of thousands of disabled people (physical and mental) were sent to the concentration camps to be slaughtered by the Nazis. Including disabled babies who were deliberately left out in the cold to freeze to death.
The disabled people who deserved to live, who did nothing wrong and were scapegoated and attacked for being different.
Autistic people who were experimented on and tortured by medical professionals like Dr Asperger and they (the Nazis) also advocated for autism to be completely destroyed because it didn't fit the Aryan criteria.
So when I see these right wing idiots supporting Musk and Trump are defending the use of the salute by claiming autism is responsible they are no better than the people who began the process over 80 years ago.
And you know what they all say: "those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it".
Learn from history, understand the severity and condemn the actions of someone who was well aware of the act he was doing (having done it twice) and DON'T let it happen again.
This year marks 80 years since the allied forces of the UK, France and America liberated Europe from the evil of fascism. I feel as though in recent years we have forgotten the purpose of that liberation and so this year I want to remind everyone that now it's more important than ever to remember the sacrifices our brave soldiers and allies made were all for eliminating horrible people like Adolf Hitler.
It's right to be offended by this, Musk has spread anti semitic and hatefulness across his platform, he doesn't care about anyone but his own self interests. I am worried that what is spreading in America at an alarming rate will make its way over here and we could see a revival of this which will affect myself and millions of others, resulting in persecution and possibly death.
Wherever your politics lie, we must put our differences aside and stand up against this evil man as our grandparents stood up in defence of us and future generations to come.
It's time to stop sleepwalking through this nightmare and wake up to the horrifying reality that has dawned. All I ask is those of you who care about me and others like me, please share this and ensure that we are aware of what is going on.
As a plea to those who have read this far. Please will you join me in sharing this around, showing support for the vulnerable and those who cannot speak up for themselves and condemning Musk and anyone who truly dares to define what happened as an "accident" or worse blaming it on disability.
