KHM: A Statement on AI

Artificial Intelligence (or AI) has been a controversial topic in recent years. The technology has significant ramifications both positive and negative have been a hotbed of discussion. At KHM we value human made art. Whether it be an image, a short film, a published story or an audio production. We are aware of the concerns and frankly, we agree.

That is why our application of AI is limited. We don't use it to write stories for us, we don't use it to manufacture voices that aren't ours and we certainly won't be using it to replace any creative jobs.
That being said, its important to be transparent. It's important that the audience we have understands when AI is implemented and to what degree that would be used for.
You may have seen that on our recent videos we are including a disclaimer at the beginning letting you know that AI was not used in the creation of the video. That is something we intend to integrate into all of our media going forward. Letting you know when something we produce did or didn't include any intervention from AI.
However, there may be occasions where we may need to rely on the technology either for a specific production or temporarily. This may be due to us being unable to hire artists for example. We are only a small non-profit enterprise which doesn't have the ability to maintain staff on a regular payroll or pay large sums of money every time we need a character design, poster etc.
Currently we only have one person in our team who can make posters, thumbnails and they aren't especially talented at creating art.
But when we can hire artists we will do so. Their art will be commissioned and they will retain full rights to their work and a lease be in place for KHM to continue to display the art work.
We believe this is our best option right now. It's not us giving into AI nor is it us abandoning human made art. It's a tricky balancing act of the two.
Going forward, we will display disclaimers where possible to inform you when something has been created with the assistance of AI. This is to ensure transparency and allow you the consumer the choice to consume or reject our media.
AI is here, it's not going away and boycotts won't work. We do and will continue to champion aims to make legislative changes to ensure AI remains ethical and that the companies who develop the technology pay the artists the technology has stolen fairly.
If you would like to support our efforts to bring on more staff so that we don't have to use AI, you can do so by going to www.keziahhydemedia.com/donate where you can make one off donations or join our membership programme and support us for as little as £2 per month. The membership programme works like Patreon where you get access to exclusive media and can make requests on what we do next.
Thank you for reading.
