Val Kilmer, beloved for his roles as Batman in Batman Forever and Iceman in the Top Gun films, has tragically passed away at the age of 65.

Kilmer began his career in the 1980s, making his film debut in the comedy Top Secret! (1984). He quickly became a household name with standout performances in Real Genius (1985), Willow (1988), and Top Gun (1986).
The 1990s saw Kilmer take on some of his most iconic roles. He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s The Doors (1991) and delivered a memorable performance in the Western classic Tombstone (1993). In 1995, Kilmer took on the legendary role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman Forever and starred in Michael Mann’s crime epic Heat, further solidifying his status as a Hollywood powerhouse.
Throughout his career, Kilmer showcased his versatility in films such as The Ghost and the Darkness (1996), The Saint (1997), The Prince of Egypt (1998), Alexander (2004), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), and The Snowman (2017).
In 2015, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer, which led to significant health struggles. A tracheal procedure damaged his vocal cords, leaving him with severe difficulty speaking. Despite these challenges, he remained resilient, undergoing chemotherapy and multiple surgeries.
In 2020, Kilmer published his memoir, I'm Your Huckleberry, offering a candid look into his life and career. The following year, the documentary Val premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, earning critical acclaim for its intimate portrayal of his journey through fame and illness.
In 2022, Kilmer made a triumphant return to the big screen, reprising his role as Iceman in Top Gun: Maverick. It would be his final film performance, serving as a fitting farewell to an extraordinary career.
Val Kilmer’s legacy will forever be cherished by fans and the film industry alike.
